Month 2 begins
I weighed myself last night.... 180.7. Sigh. At least I am not gaining weight, but I feel like my stomach is growing again.

Day 23
So I can no longer drink alcohol without serious consequences. One drink may be fine, but no more. This alone will hopefully help me lose some weight. I have been busy running and trying to eat well. Today, I was tempted and gave in - 3 cookies. They were yummy. 39-32-42

Day 18
Okay, so I have now been on this medication for a couple of weeks. I am running 5days a week without two days in a row off. My legs hurt. I have weighed myself: 182.6. Let's see if anything starts happening. Have I mentioned that it is Halloween time and I love candy??? Will power sucks. My meds are making me hungry (that and the exercise) but I have refrained from increasing my calories. Trying to keep them under 1800 a day (since I refuse to starve myself). This is not easy. I hope to have results soon. 39-36-42

Day 6
Well, I am now (as of this morning) on my full dose of metformin. I have done my exercising this week and have eaten right. I did have two glasses of a really yummy French white wine yesterday (Damn you Kate and your peer pressure). I can tell the medicine is influencing how I metabolize alcohol. I could really feel my two glasses. Usually it takes most of a bottle.
The afternoon.... my stomach hurts. I should not have eaten the candy. Bad idea.

Day Two-
So I have started my new regime. This is Day two of my medicine. So far so good. My legs hurt from running two days in a row. I will double my dosage tomorrow and see what (if anything) that does. Fingers crossed.

Tests
So the Baton Rouge Clinic has the fastest lab in the world. I had blood drawn at 9am this morning and got a phone call from my doctor at 11:55am. My thyroid is just fine. My cortisol level seems to be good too. We are going to try me on the insulin resistance diet and medicine. Should be fun. I have to run faster and farther than I have been to ensure that my heart rate is properly elevated for a minimum of 20 minutes. I cannot take the weekends off from exercising any more. No more snacks of fruits or crackers. I have to rethink the way I eat and make sure I am not increasing my calories more than I currently take in. Will keep you posted!

Next steps
So a few weeks ago I went to see my friend who is a dietitian about my inability to lose weight. I wanted to make sure that my diet was as healthy as I thought it was. She commented that indeed I was eating well and she had nothing to suggest. So then I decided to schedule a visit to the endocrinologist. Not being able to lose weight after three years of trying is a bit ridiculous. I explained that I had my TSH (thyroid) level checked 18 months ago. It was totally normal. We went through my diet and exercise and medical history. I now have a jug to fill up with pee, have a blood panel to get done, and am hopeful that I will have some answers in the not too distant future. He suggested that I may have insulin resistance in which case my diet and exercise regime will have to be tweaked. No more taking the weekend off from exercise. And I'll have to eat my carbs with other food. Looking forward to my cheese with my granola bar. Yuck. We shall see.

I hate this!!!
Just got back the photos that will be gracing Campus Technology magazine in the coming months. I am a fat girl and I hate it. I hate lugging around this extra 30 pounds of chunk. I hate looking like a blond jabba the hut in a dress. So what am I going to do about it??? I have already been watching what I eat, exercising daily, and not drinking the alcohols more than twice a week. So what is left??? I am going to get a trainer again, allow myself only one drink a week. Run 2 miles in the morning instead of one. Cut out the chocolate in my milk in the morning and the extras I allow myself throughout the week. No sugar ever!!!!! (except for my weekly margarita)and I am going to get more serious about eating right. I am going to eat more protein and good fats... maybe start my day with a egg. Hmm.... Maybe just maybe this will get it done.
